It's been three years since we last heard from Michelle Branch, but are her fans ready for her country sound?

Three years doesn't seem like an eternity, but in a fickle music industry, it's long enough for people to wonder: Whatever happened to Michelle Branch?

After releasing two multi-platinum albums and a hit country record, the singer/songwriter did what she hadn't done since she was 16 years old: take a break. In those three years, 26-year-old Branch enjoyed a low profile in Nashville with her new roles as wife and mother, marrying her bassist Teddy Landau and giving birth to their daughter Owen Isabelle in 2005.

Far East Movement moves nationwide
Far East Movement takes off with their hit single "Girls on the Dance Floor."

Known in L.A. as an energetic, homegrown hip-hop outfit, Far East Movement is taking their latest electro-tinged beats all over the nation.

 

Their single “Girls on the Dance floor” has generated regular airplay on top hip hop radio stations including LA’s Power 106 and is climbing dance charts across the nation. Their own Asian American music festival International Secret Agents has enjoyed consecutive sold out shows. Now the group is hitting the road with hit makers LMFAO for a nationwide, 31- city tour.

Korean pop superstar BoA has conquered Asia, but will she see success in the US?

Throngs of photographers clutch their cameras, their eyes staring with impatient anticipation at the doorway of the Shrine Auditorium as they jockey for position. It's been 10 minutes and the last of emerging Asian and Asian-American talent walking the red carpet of Kollaboration's annual LA showcase have filed through. Young Hollywood actors Aaron Yoo and Justin Chon, MTV's America's Best Dance Crew stars Kaba Modern and Fanny Pak, and YouTube favorites David Choi, Kina Grannis and Paul Dateh have made their way through the media spotlight . . . all except the main act, Korean pop sensation BoA.

It’s a scorching afternoon in San Antonio, Tex., another stop on the 2009 Vans Warped Tour and the members of Meg & Dia are keeping cool under the dusty tarps of their makeshift tent. Their tour bus has broken down, but the members are used to the mishaps. It’s happened each year for the past three years since the band joined the tour. "It happens," says Meg Frampton, the elder sibling of the sister-fronted quintet. "We’ve learned to kind of expect the unexpected."
